Dear Parents and Students,
Extended Closure through May 1: With these unprecedented times, new information and statistics regarding the coronavirus are reported daily. Contra Costa County Education Department, along with six other Bay Area Counties, announced extended dates for area school closures through May 1. Given this new information, PHAA K-12 will also be closed to onsite education through May 1, providing flexible, online learning beginning Tuesday, March 31 through May 1.
Academic Updates: You have each received a new myphaa.com email which will allow access to our Google Classrooms and many teachers have already routed their Zoom ID’s and beginning meeting dates/times. As much as possible, our teachers are working within our already scheduled class periods/times for class Zoom meetings so there isn’t overlap. Each teacher will give you their class information and expectations for the first week of 4thquarter no later than March 30 which could be synchronous (live) or asynchronous(not live but assignments/projects completed and turned in remotely by listed date).
Internet access and reliability: Given so many schools and businesses are now working remotely, bandwidth or video downloads might be slow at times. Please communicate directly with your teacher if you are having technical problems. Our goal is to ensure quality, continued learning but we also want to be sensitive to individual family situations and well-being. So, please communicate so we can best assist and/or accomodate.
Take Home Tuesday: We are asking teachers to notify you if they have prepared any additional information (that cannot be emailed) for Tuesday pick up. Most teachers already sent home material prior to Spring Break. We will aim to provide this pick up every Tuesday from 11 am-1 pm as this is considered an essential service for remote learning. Should you stop by for pick up, call the office at 925.934.9261 when you pull in and we will come to your car and deposit items in your trunk.

April 17-18 – Alumni Weekend-Postponed to April 9-10, 2021
April 18 – Alumni Sabbath-Ron Torkelsen speaks for ONLINE SABBATH SERVICE; April 18, 2020

April 21 – PHAA Board Meeting-ONLINE Zoom meeting
April 22 – Grades 3 and 4 to Sacramento, Train Ride, California History-Cancelled

May 21- PHAA Education Day and Presentation Singing the National Anthem at the Oakland A’s Ballgame-Likely postponed, TBD
Office continues to be closed: As long as the Shelter in Place order is in place, we will be closed except for essential needs (Take Home Tuesday). Please call 925.934.9261 should you have questions as we will be checking our messages regularly. Email teachers directly for class questions and feel free to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org should you have any questions or updates.
Join us in daily prayer: As PHAA, along with all area schools, continue our online learning, we ask for continued prayers for anyone who is ill, for those families suffering from loss of employment, for anxious families “Sheltering in Place,” and for all our parents, students, and teachers. Watch for an invite to our Elementary and High School Prayer Hub where we will have devotionals, prayer requests, and other school community building opportunities. Helpful links to Contra Costa County Health and other resources are below; check your local county resources if needed.
We miss our dear students already and hope to see our classrooms filled with students very soon. In the meantime, we'll see your faces via Zoom! Our teachers are committed to providing quality, engaging Adventist Education even if we are not onsite in our classrooms. Thank you for your flexibility and patience!
