Update as of 4.10.20

Dear Parents and Students,

We so appreciate all the learning taking place right now…staying current on assignments, participating in Zoom meetings, and staying engaged in PHAA online education this 4th quarter. As some of you have heard, area schools are making decisions about not returning to face-to-face classes this school year. We are assessing our situation daily and want to let you know that right now, this is where we are headed:

Based on the recent guidance from our local department of education, it is reasonable to conclude that we will likely not resume on-site instruction this school year. Should more positive developments occur surrounding the pandemic situation and/or local authorities relax their orders regarding social gatherings, we will certainly reassess our intentions for on-site instruction this school year at that time.

We will continue to keep you apprised of the situation; there is supposed to be an update on April 13. However, please know that should we continue online education through the remainder of the year, here is our commitment to you:

  1. We are committed to having a face-to-face graduation. As soon as it is allowed, we will have an in-person graduation for our 12th graders, our 8th graders, and our Kindergarten class, even it means late summer. We honor this important milestone in your son's and daughter's education and want to assure you graduation will still happen.
  2. We are committed to finding emergency funding to assist those families who are facing financial hardships. Several noted this in the Family Check-in Survey sent out last week and linked below. Our Finance Committee will review the needs and determine adjustments. If you are needing assistance, please complete the survey or email ASAP.
  3. We are committed to working with your students so they successfully complete their grade level and we appreciate our students' commitment to stay focused and engaged in online education through participation and completion of the assignments. Thank you to all the parents, too, for all your help and communication should there be any questions.

Our prayers are with all of you! Many of you are on the front line assisting in the health profession or providing other essential services. We pray for your protection, your endurance's and your courage. We continue to pray for healing across the world.

Take care and stay safe in the arms of Jesus,

Lisa Bissell Paulson, Ed.D.

Internet access and reliability: Given so many schools and businesses are now working remotely, bandwidth or video downloads might be slow at times.  Please communicate directly with your teacher if you are having technical problems. Our goal is to ensure quality, continued learning but we also want to be sensitive to individual family situations and well-being. So, please communicate so we can best assist and/or accomodate.

Take Home Tuesday: We are asking teachers to notify you if they have prepared any additional information (that cannot be emailed) for Tuesday pick up. Most teachers already sent home material prior to Spring Break.  We will aim to provide this pick up every Tuesday from 11 am-1 pm as this is considered an essential service for remote learning. Should you stop by for pick up, call the office at 925.934.9261 when you pull in and we will come to your car and deposit items in your trunk.

Office continues to be closed: As long as the Shelter in Place order is in place, we will be closed except for essential needs (Take Home Tuesday). Please call 925.934.9261 should you have questions as we will be checking our messages regularly. Email teachers directly for class questions and feel free to contact me at should you have any questions or updates.

Be safe, review social distancing guidelines, and continue to be vigilant in preventing the spread of this virus.
